Here’s what I love about Jala. When you walk through the threshold, you’re welcomed by both a bright airy space and a friendly greeting. I always appreciate the warmth and feeling of community. Also, I love Jala’s mission to bring two of my life’s passions, yoga and art, to the people of Providence (did you know my Freshman year of University I was a declared Art History Major?). Jala is a yoga and art studio.
Jala offers classes in Jivamukti Yoga, a Mysore-style Ashtanga program, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative Yoga, and meditation. This studio incorporates chanting, mantra, and hands-on assists – so valuable, yet a rare gem in today’s yogic landscape in New England.
I teach Vinyasa, a mixed-level class where we move through a series of postures with breath and intention and fun music. This vigorous class emphasizes alignment, while opening the body through flowing postures and breath. I also teach Sunday morning Yin, where we rest into deep stretching poses for long holds, with the help of props and mindful intention. This is a peaceful and rejuvenating class that aims to regain lost space in ligaments and joints. You can catch class with me:
- Wednesdays Yin 5p – 6p
- Fridays 75-min Vinyasa 9:30a – 10:45a
- Fridays Lunch Flow 12:15 – 1p
- Sundays 75-min Yin 10:30 – 11: 45a
